Sexist masculine norms result in negative mental health outcomes

Conformity to sexist masculine norms of power over women and sexual promiscuity along with self reliance are the highest contributors to negative mental health outcomes. The study by WONG, HO, WANG, AND MILLER used meta-analysis of 19453 participants also found that conformity to masculine norms resulted in less likelihood of seeking mental health help and strongly correlated with negative social functioning particularly masculine norms self reliance, power over women and sexual promiscuity consistently related to negative health mental health outcomes whilst the masculine norm of primacy of work had no significant effect on mental health outcomes.
