Gender Equality improves Cognitive abilities in women

A study of the cognitive test result of people aged from 50 to 93 across multiple countries showed that women in countries with more gender equality had improved cognitive ability compared to men and that when gender equality improved over time there is also an improvement in women’s cognitive ability over time. Over all results of cognitive test vary widely even among similar groups in different countries or areas, In Sweden the highest cognitive performance was from women while in Ghana men had the highest cognitive ability. The improved cognitive ability was evident when compared to cognitive test’s of women in gender unequal regions. The study lead by Eric Bonsang concluded that there may be less access to education and employment for women in societies with traditional gender roles resulting in lower cognitive abilities.
